Alex Theirot

Every once in a while I had an email, phone call or letter from a friendly guy in Denham Springs by the name of Alex Theriot.  Along the way, I learned that Alex had a stable full of fine automobiles, particularly S-P classics.

On a particular Saturday recently, I decided that I would include Alex in a list of visits I needed to make in the Baton Rouge area.  I was not disappointed when I arrived.

Alex told me that he began his long love affair with automobiles, and particularly Studebakers, in his childhood.  His father was owner of Theriot Motors, a Studebaker dealership in St. Martinville, LA.  Throughout high school and college, Alex learned to work and appreciate life in this tiny town.  Despite it’s size, the dealership had the highest volume of Studebakers in the state.  Alex has always been impressed with Studebaker’s styling and performance.

Alex persevered and obtained a formal education, working as a land surveyor and eventually becoming a Civil Engineer.  Along the way, he married Loretta Durand and they reared three children—Aline, Andre' and Bennett.  They all seem to be excellent achievers.  Seven grandchildren so far.

Alex has driven and owned many Studebakers over time.  His knowledge of the marque and ability to spot a good buy brought him to his current flock of great classics—a ‘55 Speedster, a ‘57 Golden Hawk and a ‘56 Packard Caribbean convertible.  If you could pick 3 famous S-P cars, wouldn’t these be on your list?  Would you like to own one of these?  Alex is selling the supercharged Golden Hawk.  The ad is on this page.  The Caribbean is the most pristine of the 3.  I was surprised to learn that the seat cushions are reversible—cloth for summer and vinyl for winter.  Just flip them over in the seat frame.

Alex likes to buy his cars already restored.  His busy schedule doesn’t permit the time to do the work himself.  If these Studebaker-Packard aren't enough to make you drool, check out the ‘84 Lamborghini Countach!
